French Education System

The French education system is divided into

The preschool welcomes children before compulsory education. At our Lycée, it is organized into four sections: TPS, PS, MS, and GS, according to the children’s ages: 2, 3, 4, and 5 years old.

Primary School

The primary school welcomes children aged 6 to 11. It is divided into two cycles: Cycle 2 (CP, CE1, CE2) and Cycle 3 (CM1 and CM2).

Secondary School

At the end of primary school, the collège marks the beginning of secondary education for students. It is organized into four levels, from 6th to 3rd grade, and structured into pedagogical cycles.

Schooling at the lycée lasts three years: seconde, première, and terminale. At the end of this cycle, students take the Baccalauréat, a French state examination through which they obtain the French secondary school diploma.

At the same time, it is structured into different learning cycles:

Cycle 1: the early learning cycle, which includes TPS, PS, MS, and GS classes.
Cycle 2: the fundamental learning cycle, which includes CP, CE1, and CE2 classes.
Cycle 3: the consolidation cycle, which includes CM1, CM2, and 6ème classes.
Cycle 4: the advanced (deepening) cycle, which includes 5ème, 4ème, and 3ème classes.
Determination cycle: includes the classe de 2nde.
Final cycle: includes 1ère and terminale classes.
